Making a road trip dream a reality
When they gave up their car because of the road congestion in DC, they knew road trips would be a little tougher to come by. “We knew we loved road trips, but the opportunity to do it again didn’t seem feasible unless we rented a car,” Megan explained. Having rented cars previously, she found the prospect unappealing to revisit. “We didn’t love it. The location wasn’t ideal, and I didn’t care for the service; it just wasn’t remarkable.”
Discovering Turo, she seemed to have found the perfect solution. With Columbus Day approaching and a long-awaited break on the horizon, it was the perfect opportunity to plan a long weekend to celebrate of her wife’s graduation from grad school.
Over the course of a couple days, they charted their course to drive from DC to Virginia Beach, including a leisurely drive along the outer banks to take in the sweeping views of endless corn, cotton, and tobacco fields. They settled on a Toyota Corolla and got along instantly with the car owner. “He dropped the car off for no extra fee and we got along great. Using Turo within your own town is a great way to get to know people and is an interesting way to interact with your community,” Megan says.
